A device for preventing adhesions or binding of tissue to tissue or of tissue to bone which comprises a composite of a first layer and a second layer, each of which comprises a biodegradable polymer. The first layer is selected from the groin consisting of a non-porous layer and a porous layer having a pore size no greater than 3µ. The second layer has pores which have a pore size of from about 30µ to about 250µ. Such a composite device provides for tissue growth into the second layer, while the first layer acts as an adhesion-preventing barrier, and enables attachment of the device to tissue without suturing. Alternatively, the device comprises the first layer herein above mentioned and a second layer which is an adherence layer and which adheres to tissue and/or bone.

Dispositif servant à empêcher l'adhérence ou la fixation d'un tissu à un autre tissu ou d'un tissu à un os et comprenant un composite constitué par une première couche et par une deuxième couche, dont chacune comprend un polymère biodégradable. La première couche est sélectionnée à partir du groupe constitué par une couche non poreuse et par une couche poreuse, dont la dimension de pore n'est pas supérieure à 3mu. La deuxième couche possède des pores, dont la dimension se situe entre 30mu et 250mu environ. Ce dispositif composite autorise la croissance du tissu dans la deuxième couche, tandis que la première couche sert de barrière de prévention de l'adhérence, tout en pouvant se fixer au tissu sans point de suture. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, le dispositif comprend la première couche ci-dessus mentionnée, ainsi qu'une deuxième couche, qui est une couche d'adhérence et qui adhère au tissu et/ou à l'os.
