The present invention provides a polynucleotide (PTEC) isolated from a prostate cDNA library which identifies and encodes a novel human rantes homolog (PTEC). The invention provides for genetically engineered expression vectors and host cells comprising the nucleic acid sequence encoding PTEC. The invention also provides for the therapeutic use of purified PTEC in the treatment of immune deficiency diseases, and for the therapeutic use of antisense molecules, antibodies, antagonists or inhibitors in the treatment of conditions or diseases associated with the expression of PTEC. The invention also describes diagnostic assays which utilize diagnostic compositions comprising the polynucleotide, or fragments thereof, or antibodies which specifically bind to the polypeptide.

L'invention concerne un polynucléotide (PTEC), isolé à partir d'une banque d'ADNc de la prostate, qui identifie et code un nouvel homologue de RANTES humain (PTEC). L'invention a également pour objet des vecteurs d'expression créés par génie génétique et des cellules hôtes comprenant la séquence nucléotidique codant le PTEC. L'invention se rapporte également à l'utilisation thérapeutique de PTEC purifié dans le traitement de maladies immuno-déficitaires et à l'utilisation thérapeutique de molécules, d'anticorps, d'antagonistes ou d'inhibiteurs antisens dans le traitement de maladies ou d'états pathologiques associés à l'expression du PTEC. L'invention porte également sur des dosages de diagnostic faisant appel aux compositions de diagnostic comprenant ledit polynucléotide ou ses fragments, ou des anticorps qui se lient spécifiquement au polypeptide.
