An optical termination pedestal defines an interior cavity for interconnecting an optical fiber of a distribution cable and an optical fiber of a drop cable. The pedestal includes a base, a housing positioned over the base, and a plate secured to the housing or the base. The plate separates the interior cavity into a first compartment and a second compartment and has at least one cable port for routing the distribution cable into the first compartment. At least one connector port may be provided on the plate for receiving a connectorized optical fiber of the distribution cable from the first compartment and a pre- connectorized drop cable from the second compartment. The plate is provided with an O-ring to seal the first compartment relative to the second compartment. As a result, a sealed splice closure is created within the interior cavity without the need for a separate enclosure.

L'invention concerne un socle pour terminaison optique définissant une cavité intérieure qui sert à interconnecter une fibre optique d'un câble de distribution et une fibre optique d'un câble de dérivation. Ce socle comprend une base, un boîtier positionné au-dessus de la base, et une plaque fixée au boîtier ou à la base. La plaque sépare la cavité intérieure en un premier compartiment et en un deuxième compartiment et présente au moins un orifice de câble permettant d'acheminer le câble de distribution dans le premier compartiment. Au moins un orifice de connecteur peut être ménagé sur la plaque de façon à recevoir une fibre optique connectorisée du câble de distribution provenant du premier compartiment et un câble de dérivation préconnectorisé provenant du deuxième compartiment. La plaque présente un joint torique servant à étanchéifier le premier compartiment par rapport au deuxième compartiment.
