The present invention in general terms includes a method of treating cancerous cells containing a pigment, the method including irradiation of the cells with light of comprising the steps: (1) subjecting the cancerous cells to relatively high power light so as to substantially reduce the amount of the pigment in the cells; (2) treating the cancerous cells with one or more photosensitizing agent; followed by (3) subjecting the cancerous cells to relatively low power light so as to activate the photosensitizing agent(s). The figure shows a graph of the rate of tumor growth in mice exposed to irradiation in varying amounts.
La présente invention concerne, de manière générale, une méthode de traitement de cellules cancéreuses contenant un pigment, la méthode consistant en l'irradiation des cellules avec de la lumière et comprenant les étapes consistant (1) à soumettre les cellules cancéreuses à une lumière de puissance relativement élevée afin de réduire sensiblement la quantité de pigment dans les cellules, (2) à traiter les cellules cancéreuses avec un ou plusieurs agents photosensibilisants et (3) à soumettre les cellules cancéreuses à une lumière de puissance relativement faible afin d'activer le ou les agents photosensibilisants. La figure 3 présente un graphe du rythme de croissance de la tumeur chez des souris exposées à des rayons selon des doses variables.
