The present invention relates to a process for forming a composite article in a resin transfer molding system. The process includes the steps of providing a fiber preform in a mold, injecting a matrix resin into the mold, allowing the matrix resin to impregnate the fiber preform, and heating the resin impregnated preform to at least about 93,3 ~C (200 ~F) for sufficient time to produce at least a partially cured solid article. The matrix resin comprises: 1) a liquid, phenolic novolac epoxy resin; 2) an epoxy diluent; and 3) at least one latent curing agent that cures only when subjected to a temperature of at least about 93,3 ~C (200 ~F). The partially cured solid article may be subjected to post-curing operations to produce a final composite article. The present invention also relates to a process for forming a composite article in a vacuum assisted resin transfer mold system.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de former un article composite dans un système de moulage par transfert de résine. Selon le procédé, on introduit une préforme en fibres dans un moule, on injecte une résine matricielle dans le moule, on laisse ladite résine imprégner la préforme, et on chauffe la préforme imprégnée de résine jusqu'à au moins 93,3 ·C (200 ·F), pendant une durée suffisante pour produire au moins un article solide partiellement durci. La résine matricielle comprend (1) une résine époxy novolaque phénolique liquide; (2) un diluant époxy; et (3) au moins un agent de cuisson latent qui ne durcit que quand il est soumis à une température d'au moins 93,3 ·C (200 ·F). On peut soumettre l'article solide partiellement durci à des opérations de post-cuisson afin d'obtenir un article composite final. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de former un article composite dans un système de moulage par transfert de résine à dépression.
