The present invention is directed to a method for producing a water dispersible resin composition, comprising the steps of: radically polymerizing, in the presence of a polymerization initiator, a starting mixture comprising (a) 10 to 9.5 o by weight of a water insoluble resin having a solubility in water of not more than 1; and (b) 5 to 90 % by weight of a monomer mixture consisting of (1) 2 to 75 % by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having an acid group, and (2) 25 to 98 % by weight of the ethylenically unsaturated monomer other than (1); and neutralizing the resulting resin composition containing an acid group by adding a neutralizing agent. A coating composition is provided which is stable and excellent in coating workability and has improved storage stability and solid components content of the coating composition. Since particles excellent in dispersibility improve the uniformity of a coated film, transparency, smoothness, chemical resistance, water resistance and mechanical strength of the coated film are also improved.
Un procédé de production d'une composition de résine dispersible dans l'eau consiste à réaliser la polymérisation radicalaire d'un mélange de départ constitué de (a) 10 à 95 % en poids d'une résine insoluble dans l'eau présentant une solubilité dans l'eau de 1 ou moins, et (b) de 90 à 5 % en poids d'un mélange monomère constitué de (1) 2 à 75 % en poids d'un monomère d'acide éthyléniquement insaturé et (2) 98 à 25 % en poids d'un autre monomère éthyléniquement insaturé en présence d'un amorceur de polymérisation; à neutraliser la composition résineuse acide obtenue avec un agent neutralisant. La composition ainsi obtenue constitue une composition de revêtement présentant une durée de conservation et une stabilité accrues et une excellente applicabilité en tant que revêtement. Les particules de résine à dispersion facile permettant d'améliorer l'homogénéité de la pellicule de revêtement obtenue à partir de ladite composition, ladite pellicule présente une transparence, un lissé, une résistance aux produits chimiques et à l'eau et une résistance mécanique accrus.
