Tire having an aspect ratio equal to at least 0.50, comprising a radial carcass reinforcement (1) and a crown reinforcement (3) consisting of at least two working crown plies (31, 33) of non-stretch metal cable, crossed from one ply to the next at an angle of between 10 degrees and 45 degrees with the direction of the circumference, and an additional ply (32) that is continuous axially and formed of metal reinforcement components aligned more or less in parallel with the direction of the circumference. The said ply (32) is placed over the working ply (31) that is radially closest to the carcass reinforcement (1), and the ratio of its stretch resistance per unit width to the sum of the stretch resistance figures for the other crown reinforcement plies is between 0.35 and 0.70.
