A closing device for use with drawer assemblies such as storage cabinets, toolboxes, bench drawers and the like. The slide auto-close system includes a base 1, a connector 2, as well as a retaining lever 3. The connector is designed so that it can be installed on either side of the slide auto-close system so as to assemble a resulting right or left hand side auto-close system. The auto-close system is incorporated into the slide itself which catches the drawer before it closes, slowly drags it into a closed position and keeps it that way, by virtue of the cooperation of the above-mentioned components of the system. Furthermore, these components cooperate in such a manner so as to prevent the reopening of the drawer if it is closed too rapidly.
