A biocompatible, biodegradable, macromolecular water-absorbent hybrid material (WAHM), having a three-dimensional configuration with intermolecular covalent bonds and containing free functional groups, said polymer being formed by polymer-polymer intercoupling reaction between a natural water-soluble polymer A or its derivatives having a molecular weight between 20,000 and 300,000Da , and a synthetic polymer B in an adequate ratio wherein the natural polymer A is selected from amphoteric reactants, partially denatured or chemically modified natural polymer, that dissociates in water to form both anions and cations, and which can undergo polymer-polymer intercoupling reactions, and wherein synthetic polymer B is a linear or branched reactive synthetic copolymer having a molecular weight of 50,000 - 500,000Da derived from a vinyl monomer and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, having a backbone with polymeric subunits covalently bonded to the polymer backbone, the subunits comprising ones with non-reactive and others with reactive chemical functional groups.
L'invention concerne un matériau hybride biocompatible, biodégradable, absorbant l'eau (WAHM), qui présente une configuration tridimensionnelle avec des liens covalents intermoléculaires et contient trois groupes fonctionnels, ledit polymère étant formé par réaction d'intercouplage polymère-polymère entre un polymère naturel A soluble dans l'eau, ou ses dérivés de poids moléculaire compris entre 20.000 et 300.000 Da, et un polymère synthétique B, selon un rapport approprié. Le polymère naturel A est choisi parmi des réactifs amphotères, un polymère naturel partiellement dénaturé ou chimiquement modifié qui se dissocie dans l'eau pour former à la fois des anions et des cations, et peut subir des réactions d'intercouplage polymère-polymère. Le polymère synthétique B est un copolymère synthétique réactif linéaire ou ramifié, qui présente un poids moléculaire compris entre 50.000 et 500.000 Da dérivé d'un monomère vinylique et d'un monomère éthyléniquement insaturé, dont le squelette comprend des sous-unités liées de manière covalente au squelette polymère. Certaines des sous-unités présentent des groupes fonctionnels chimiques non réactives, d'autres des groupes fonctionnels chimiques réactives.
