This invention relates to Brassica plants and methods of breeding Brassica plants. More particularly, the invention relates to the use of molecular markersfor determining the genotype of the Ogura Rf gene in Brassica plants at an early stage in their development. The method involves using a combination of primers derived from RAPD markers in PCR reactions to allow discrimination between homozygous, heterozygous and non-restorer or sterile genotypes. Also disclosed are combinations of primers which allow such discrimination.
L'invention porte sur des plantes de la famille Brassica et sur des méthodes pour la reproduction de ces plantes. Plus particulièrement, l'invention porte sur l'emploi de marqueurs moléculaires pour déterminer le génotype du gène Ogura Rf chez les plantes Brassica à un stade précoce de leur développement. La méthode consiste à utiliser une combinaison d'amorces dérivées de marqueurs RAPD dans des réactions ACP, permettant la discrimination entre les génotypes homozygotes, hétérozygotes, non-restaurateurs et stériles. On divulgue également des combinaisons d'amorces rendant possible cette discrimination.
