A liquid filter comprises a filter rotor (1) with filtering means (7) and a container (2) for the filtrate. The filtrate is divided in two fractions, a coarse pre- filtrated derived from that side, where the rotor dives into the liquid, and a clear filtrate derived from the opposite side. The pre-filtrate fraction is ex- tracted from the filtrate space thereby that the filtrate at said side of the con- tainer is forced to pass through a num- ber of openings (13) lying close to the liquid surface of the filtrate and leading to a pre-filtrate outlet (10), which open- ings are spaced apart relative to each other and distributed along the rotor.
