In general, when gluing pieces of wood together in the production of drawers, laminated articles such as lamps and irregularly shaped objects, the pieces are held together using a reusable strap and a buckle. The use of a reusable strap necessitates cleaning between users, and unless the strap is available in a variety of lengths, it is common to use a long strap which interferes with the work. When carrying a load of lumber or other building supplies on an automobile, the load is held together by string or rope. The forming of the bundle is often difficult and time consuming, and the resulting bundle can be unstable. Frequent stops may be necessary to tighten the string or rope. A simple solution to the above described problem is to use a commercially available, disposable strap and a clamping device which is defined by an elongated tubular casing of rectangular cross section for receiving a wedge, which is used to jam the ends of the strap in the casing. A bolt can be used to tighten the wedge in the casing, or the casing and/or wedge can be tapered. After the glue has dried or when reaching home, the clamp is removed for reuse and the strap is discarded.
