Elevated levels of Inhibin-A in maternal serum or plasma have been shown to indicate the presence of Down's Syndrome. The assay method comprises the use of a monoclonal antibody specific for at least part of the Inhibin-A .beta. sub-unit (.beta.A), and another monoclonal antibody specific for at least part of the Inhibin-A sub-unit. The .beta.A antibody is used to capture Inhibin-A from the test sample, and the .alpha. sub-unit antibody is used as the detection antibody and is linked to a detectable marker. The method is carried out in the first or second trimester as a screening test to select patients for subsequent diagnostic testing.
Des taux élevés d'inhibine A dans le sérum ou le plasma maternel ont révélé la présence du syndrome de Down. Le procédé de dosage consiste à utiliser un anticorps monoclonal spécifique d'au moins une partie de la sous-unité beta de l'inhibine A ( beta A), et un autre anticorps monoclonal spécifique d'au moins une partie de la sous-unité alpha de l'inhibine A. L'anticorps beta A est utilisé pour capturer l'inhibine A dans l'échantillon test, et l'anticorps de la sous-unité alpha est utilisé comme anticorps de détection et est lié à un marqueur détectable. Le procédé est effectué dans le premier ou le second trimestre de la grossesse sous forme de test de dépistage pour sélectionner des patientes en vue de réaliser un test de diagnostic ultérieur.
