A liquid permeable metallic coating (40) is utilized in conjunction with a fluorescence based optical sensor (70). The metallic coating is deposited directly on, and is in physical contact with, the sensing membrane (30). The metallic coating does not require an intervening substrate layer or other components. When light from a light source (50) is shone through the substantially light transmissive substrate onto the sensing membrane (30), the metallic overcoating (40) reflects back the excitation light as well as the fluorescence light generated by the sensor such that substantially no light reaches the sample where the light may be scattered and/or absorbed by the sample. Accordingly, the accuracy and repeatability of the sensor (70) is improved while the cost and production times associated with manufacturing the sensor are minimized.
On utilise, dans le cadre de cette invention, un revêtement métallique perméable aux liquides (40) conjointement à un capteur optique faisant intervenir le phénomène de fluorescence (70). On dépose ce revêtement métallique directement sur la membrane de détection (30) afin de les mettre en contact physique. Ce revêtement métallique ne nécessite pas l'emploi d'une couche substrat intermédiaire ou d'autres composants. Lorsqu'une lumière émanant d'une source lumineuse (50) vient frapper, après avoir traversé le substrat quasiment transparent, la membrane de détection, le revêtement métallique de couverture (40) réfléchit la lumière d'excitation ainsi que la lumière fluorescente produite par le capteur de sorte qu'il ne parvient pratiquement pas de lumière à l'échantillon, la lumière pouvant être dispersée et/ou absorbée par celui-ci. On améliore, de la sorte, la précision et la fidélité du capteur (70) tout en réduisant les coûts et les délais liés à la fabrication du capteur.
