Novel, improved ink compositions are aqueous-based, shock-resistant, shear- thinning inks for writing instruments having a shear index greater than 0.6. The inks are a substantially uniform dispersion including colorant(s), a water dispersible, polymeric shear-thinning material selected from the group consisting of welan gumrhamsan gum and combinations thereof, and a substantially water-soluble polymeric viscosity modifier in a polar solvent system. While the ink compositions have a high viscosity at low shear rates, they undergo shear-thinning and are readily flowable in response to shear rates produced in writing to provide a writing ink having an especially desirable combination of performance characteristics.
L'invention concerne des compositions d'encre nouvelles et améliorées, qui sont des encres de fluidification, à base aqueuse et résistant au choc, pour instruments d'écriture, présentant un indice de cisaillement supérieur à 0,6. Lesdites encres sont des dispersions sensiblement homogènes contenant un ou plusieurs colorants, une matière polymère de fluidification, dispersible dans l'eau, choisie dans le groupe comprenant de la gomme de rhamsane et de welane et des combinaisons de celles-ci, et un modificateur de viscosité polymère, sensiblement hydrosoluble, prévu dans un système de solvant polaire. Alors que lesdites compositions d'encre présentent une viscosité élevée à des taux de cisaillement faibles, elle subissent une fluidification et sont facilement fluidifiables en réponse à des taux de cisaillement produits lors de l'écriture, de sorte qu'une encre d'écriture présentant une combinaison voulue de caractéristiques soit produite.
