The invention concerns an intervertebral disc prosthesis comprising two plates (2), and a bladder (8) interposed between the plates and comprising a chamber filled with fluid (12) and a compressible body (14). The body (4) is so shaped as to be able to take up a position wherein it is in contact with at most one of the plates (4) when the prosthesis is subjected to compression tending to bring the plates (4) closer to each other.
