A portable sign comprised of a flat panel mounted on a pole forming the handle so that the sign can be held above the operator with the display panel facing oncoming traffic from both direction. Light emitting diodes are mounted on either side of the sign. One side of the sign displays the word "STOP" with red flashing lights, the other side displays the word "SLOW" with green flashing lights. Sign may also have "STOP" on both sides with flashing lights as well. The handle contains the battery for operating the lights, a flashing circuit and a switch to turn lights on and off. There is also a hood or visor on the top of the sign directly above the light to prevent direct sunlight beaming on the light making the visibility of the light less effective.
