A process for the polymerization of one or more addition polymerizable monomers and the resulting polymer products, said process comprising: 1) contacting an addition polymerizable monomer or mixture of monomers under addition polymerization conditions in a reactor or reactor zone with a composition comprising at least one olefin polymerization catalyst and a cocatalyst and characterized by the formation of polymer chains from said monomer or monomers; 2) transferring the reaction mixture to a second reactor or reactor zone and optionally adding one or more additional reactants, catalysts, monomers or other compounds prior to, commensurate with, or after said transfer; and 3) causing polymerization to occur in said second reactor or reactor zone to form polymer chains that are differentiated from the polymer chains formed in step 1); said process being characterized by addition of a chain shuttling agent to the reaction mixture prior to, during, or subsequent to step 1) such that at least some of the resulting polymer molecules from step 3) comprise two or more chemically or physically distinguishable blocks or segments.
L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à la polymérisation d'un ou de plusieurs monomères d'addition polymérisables et les produits polymères obtenus, le procédé consistant: 1) à mettre en contact un monomère d'addition polymérisable ou un mélange de monomères dans des conditions de polymérisation d'addition dans un réacteur ou une zone de réacteur avec une composition comprenant au moins un catalyseur de polymérisation d'oléfine et un co-catalyseur et caractérisé par la formation de chaînes polymères à partir du ou des monomères; 2) à transférer le mélange de réaction dans un second réacteur ou zone de réacteur et éventuellement à ajouter un ou plusieurs réactifs, catalyseurs, monomères ou autres composés supplémentaires avant, pendant ou après le transfert; et 3) à entraîner la polymérisation dans le second réacteur ou zone de réacteur, de manière à former des chaînes polymères différentiées des chaînes polymères formées à l'étape 1); le procédé étant caractérisé en ce qu'il consiste à ajouter un agent de transfert de chaînes dans le mélange de réaction avant, pendant ou après l'étape 1), de manière qu'au moins une partie des molécules de polymères obtenues à l'étapes 3) comprennent au moins deux blocs ou segments pouvant être distingués sur le plan chimique ou physique.
