This invention relates to the use of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies that specifically bind to and have the ability in the alternative to become internalized by cells expressing endosialin and to induce an immune effector activity such as antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity. The antibodies are useful in specific delivery of pharmacologic agents to endosialin-expressing cells as well as in eliciting an immune-effector activity particularly on tumor and neovascular cells and precursors. The invention is also related to nucleotides encoding the antibodies of the invention, cells expressing the antibodies; methods of detecting cancer and neovascular cells; and methods of treating cancer and neovascular disease using the antibodies, derivatives and fragments.
L'invention concerne l'utilisation d'anticorps monoclonaux et polyclonaux qui se lient spécifiquement aux cellules exprimant l'endosialine et ont la capacité d'être internalisés par ces cellules afin d'induire une activité d'effecteur immunitaire, telle que la cytotoxicité dépendant des anticorps. Ces anticorps sont utiles dans la libération spécifique d'agents pharmacologiques dans des cellules exprimant l'endosialine ainsi que dans la provocation d'une activité d'effecteur immunitaire particulièrement sur des cellules tumorales et néovasculaires et des précurseurs. L'invention porte également sur des nucléotides codant pour les anticorps de l'invention, sur des cellules exprimant les anticorps, sur des méthodes de détection de cellules cancéreuses et néovasculaires et sur des méthodes de traitement du cancer et de maladie néovasculaire au moyen des anticorps, dérivés et fragments de l'invention.
