A method for post-mold attachment of a handle (71) to a strain-oriented plastic container body (52). The method utilizes thermal shrinkage of the oriented container body to engage the handle: for example, a highly-oriented recess (56, 58) is molded in the container body (52) and then shrunk to engage a complimentary-shaped lug on the handle (71). The method is useful for both hot-fillable and pasteurizable containers, and is particularly useful for making larger-sized containers, wherein the weight of the product and size of the container make handling and pouring difficult.

Procédé de fixation post-moulage d'une poignée (71) au corps (52) d'un récipient en plastique étiré par déformation. Le procédé a recours au rétrécissement thermique du corps du récipient étiré pour pouvoir engager la poignée. Par exemple, on moule une empreinte (56, 58) très étirée dans le corps (52) du récipient, puis on la rétrécit pour qu'elle entre en contact avec une saillie de forme complémentaire sur la poignée (71). Le procédé est d'utilité pour les récipients que l'on peut remplir à chaud et pasteuriser, et s'avère particulièrement utile pour la fabrication de récipients de tailles plus importantes, lorsque le poids du produit et la taille du récipient rendent le déversement et le maniement difficile.
