A phenol derivative represented by the following general formula (I), a pharmacologically acceptable salt of the derivative, or a prodrug of either. They have human SGLT inhibitory activity and are useful as a preventive or therapeutic agent for diseases attributable to hyperglycemia, such as diabetes, postprandial hyperglycemia, impaired glucose tolerance, complications of diabetes, and obesity. In the chemical structural formula, R1 and R2 each represents H, OH, NH2, etc.; R3 and R4 each represents H, OH, halogeno, optionally substituted alkyl, etc.; ring A represents aryl or heteroaryl; and G represents a group represented by the following general formula (G), wherein E1 represents H or F and E2 represents H, F, methyl, etc.

Ils ont une activité inhibitrice SGLT humaine et sont utiles comme agent préventif ou thérapeutique pour les maladies attribuables à l'hyperglycémie, telle que le diabète, l'hyperglycémie post-prandiale, la mauvaise tolérance au glucose, les complications diabétiques, et l'obésité.
