The invention relates to a hand-held unit for examining biological fluids such as whole blood, body fluid, urine and serum without conducting a complex pre-analysis with the aid of electrochemical biosensors. The hand-held unit is comprised of an exchangeable electrochemical biosensor, a system solution storage pouch, a waste pouch, a pump, a tubular transport system, a functional wheel having a valve function, four operating elements, a display, and a control unit which is provided for detecting signals and for ensuring the entire operational sequence and which is supplied with power by a solar cell and a 9 V battery.
