An artificial intervertebral spacer comprises a first arm and a second arm, each of the arms having first and second ends and wherein the first ends of each of the arms are connected together and wherein the second ends of each of the arms are generally separated from each other and divergently extend in a common direction. In a preferred embodiment, the first ends of the arms are joined to form a third arm. In a further preferred embodiment, the spacer comprises a generally Y-shaped structure. In other embodiments, at least two spacers are combined to provide an intervertebral distracting device.

L'invention porte sur une entretoise intervertébrale artificielle qui comporte un premier bras et un second bras, chacun des bras ayant des premières et secondes extrémités, les premières extrémités de chacun des bras étant reliées ensemble et les secondes extrémités de chacun des bras étant généralement espacées les unes des autres et s'étendant de manière divergente dans une direction commune. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré, les premières extrémités des bras sont reliées pour former un troisième bras. Dans un autre mode de réalisation préféré, l'entretoise comporte une structure généralement en forme de Y. Dans d'autres modes de réalisation, au moins deux entretoises sont combinées pour fournir un dispositif de distraction intervertébral.
