The present invention relates to compounds of formula (I) wherein R1 is halogen or lower alkyl; R2 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, -(CH2)m- phenyl, wherein the phenyl ring may be substituted by lower alkoxy, or is (CH2)m-indolyl; R3 is C(O)O-lower alkyl, -C(O)OH, or a five membered heteroaromatic group, which rings may be substituted by lower alkyl or cycloalkyl; n is 0, 1 or 2 ; m is 0, 1 or 2 ; and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts. It has been found that this class of compounds show high affinity and selectivity for GABA A .alpha.5 receptor binding sites and might be useful for the treatment of cognitive enhancer or of cognitive disorders like Alzheimer's disease.

L'invention concerne des composés représentés par la formule (I), dans laquelle R?1 ¿ représente halogène ou alkyle inférieur, R?2¿ représente hydrogène, alkyle inférieur, cycloalkyle, -(CH¿2?)¿m?-phényle, le cycle phényle pouvant être substitué par alcoxy inférieur, ou représente (CH¿2?)¿m?-indolyle, R?3¿ représente -C(O)O-alkyle inférieur, -C(O)OH, ou un groupe hétéroaromatique à cinq chaînons, dont les cycles peuvent être substitués par alkyle inférieur ou cycloalkyle, n représente 0, 1 ou 2, m représente 0, 1 ou 2, ainsi que leurs sels d'addition acides pharmaceutiquement acceptables. On a découvert que les composés de cette classe montrent une grande affinité et une grande sélectivité pour les sites de liaison du récepteur GABA A .alpha.5, et qu'ils peuvent être utiles dans le traitement ou l'amélioration neuro-cognitive de troubles cognitifs tels que la maladie d'Alzheimer.
