Abstract of the Disclosure An electronic cash register comprises a keyboard having a plurality of numeral entry keys and function keys, a drawer to be opened after the depression of a specified function key, a printer for printing on a blank receipt the data defined by operation of the entry keys and function keys, and a receipt feed device for feeding a blank receipt and taking out a printed receipt. The electronic cash register is further provided with a detection device and a receipt cutting device. The detection device detects the drawer-shutting and thus actuates the receipt cutting device when the drawer is shut.
