A lever comprises a tubular lever body of square cross section. At an outer end of the lever body is welded a lifting member of similar square cross section extending partly along the lever body leaving a top surface portion of the lever body exposed. On an end of the lifting member beyond the end of the lever body is welded a pin on the underside of the lifting member. A support member again of the tubular material is welded on the underside of the lever body at the outer end thereof. In operation the lever body is inserted into the interior of a pallet with the lifting member exposed on the outside. A fork of a hand lift jack for transporting the pallet is then inserted under the lifting member and engaged onto the pin so that the lever can simply raise the pallet slightly from the ground to allow twisting of the pallet about a vertical axis.
