A cardiac lead (10) is provided that includes a connector (16) for connecting to a cardiac stimulator (24) and a flexible sleeve (12) coupled to the connector (16). The sleeve has a first segment (14), a second segment (18) and a jacket (22) coupling the first segment and the second segment. The jacket is composed of a shape-memory polymeric material, which deforms diametrically in situ to selectively disconnect the first segment from the second segment. An electrode (20) is coupled to the sleeve and a conductor is disposed in the sleeve and coupled to the connector and the electrode for conveying electrical signals. The breakaway function of the jacket allows removal of all but a small portion of the lead without dissection of fibrous tissue.

L'invention concerne une dérivation cardiaque (10) comprenant un connecteur (16) permettant la connexion à un stimulateur cardiaque (24) et un manchon souple (12) accouplé au connecteur (16). Le manchon présente un premier segment (14), un deuxième segment (18) et une gaine (22) d'accouplement du premier segment au deuxième segment. La gaine est en un matériau polymère à mémoire de forme, se déformant diamétralement in situ pour déconnecter le premier segment du deuxième segment.
