2056420 9015112 PCTABS00002 A process is provided for making bulk calcium magnesium acetate in a substantially pure crystalline form by forming a solution of calcium, magnesium and acetate ions in a substantially non-aqueous solvent and maintaining the solution at a temperature for a sufficient period of time to form crystalline calcium magnesium acetate. The crystalline calcium magnesium acetate contains less than about 0.5 % of impurities and is useful as a deicing agent which does not stain aluminum.
