A rocking and gliding chair as a seat carried on a spreader frame on top of a central post mounted on the base, the posts incorporating a swivel mechanism. The spreader frame supports unitary first and second depending links which pivot on parallel horizontal axis and which at the lower ends are pivoted to a pair of laterally spaced lower support links. Side panels on the lower support links carry the seat platform and the seating portion of the chair.
