A tamper-proof seal (10) is disclosed for use in connection with sterilization containers. The seal includes a body portion (12) including a sterilization indicating material (16) and a tongue (14) extending from the body portion. The tongue may be in the form of a laminate consisting of a pair of substantially inert outer layers (20, 22) sandwiching a high shrink inner layer (24). The tongue is designed to engage the latch mechanism (106) of a sterilization container (100) when the container is in the closed position and the latch mechanism is in a latched position. Upon exposure of the container to sterilization conditions, the tongue shrinks, causing the outer layers to fold upon themselves in a plurality of pleats (200). The container latch mechanism cannot be opened without fracturing the tongue of the seal, thereby providing visible evidence of the latch mechanism being opened.
L'invention concerne une fermeture inviolable (10) pouvant être utilisée avec des contenants de stérilisation. La fermeture comprend une portion corps (12) pourvue d'un matériau indiquant la stérilisation (16), et une languette (14) s'étendant depuis la portion corps. La languette peut présenter la forme d'un stratifié composé de deux couches extérieures (20, 22) sensiblement inertes placées de chaque côté d'une couche intérieure(24) hautement thermorétractable. La languette est conçue pour s'engrener dans le mécanisme de verrouillage (106) d'un contenant de stérilisation (100) lorsque le contenant est en position fermée et que le mécanisme de verrouillage est en position verrouillée. Lorsque le contenant de stérilisation est soumis aux conditions de stérilisation, la languette se rétracte et les couches extérieures se replient sur elles-mêmes en une multitude de plis (200). Le mécanisme de verrouillage du contenant ne peut plus être ouvert sans fracturer la languette de la fermeture. Ce système permet de contrôler l'ouverture éventuelle du mécanisme de verrouillage.
