Identifying live eggs includes: a) illuminating eggs with light; b) receiving light passing through each egg at a light detector; c) generating an output signal that corresponds to light received at a light detector for each respective egg; d) analyzing the output signals to identify an indication of an external disturbance; e) analyzing the output signal for each egg to identify the existence of an embryo heart rate and/or embryo movement; and f) designating an egg as a live egg in response to identifying embryo heart rate and/or embryo movement. Steps a) through d) are repeated if output signals from a predetermined number of eggs contain an indication of an external disturbance to the eggs. Steps a) through f) are repeated if the number of eggs designated as live exceeds an expected number, or if embryo movement occurs at about the same time in a predetermined number of eggs.
L'invention concerne un procédé d'identification d'oeufs vivants. Ledit procédé consiste : a) à éclairer les oeufs à l'aide d'une lumière ; b) à recevoir la lumière traversant chaque oeuf au niveau d'un détecteur de lumière ; c) à générer un signal de sortie qui correspond à la lumière reçue au niveau d'un détecteur de lumière pour chaque oeuf respectif ; d) à analyser les signaux de sortie afin d'identifier une indication de perturbation extérieure ; e) à analyser le signal de sortie pour chaque oeuf afin d'identifier l'existence d'une fréquence cardiaque d'un embryon et/ou un mouvement d'un embryon et f) à désigner un oeuf en tant qu'oeuf vivant en réponse à l'identification d'une fréquence cardiaque d'un embryon et/ou d'un mouvement d'un embryon. Les étapes a) à d) sont répétées si des signaux de sortie d'un nombre prédéterminé d'oeufs contiennent une indication de perturbation extérieure sur les oeufs. Les étapes a) à f) sont répétées si le nombre d'oeufs désignés en tant que vivants dépasse un nombre attendu, ou si un mouvement d'embryon se produit presque au même moment dans un nombre prédéterminé d'oeufs.
