D-Ribose and methods for using D-Ribose are provided for enhancing the immune response in mammals. Those with a less than optimal immune response will benefit from oral or parenteral administration of D-Ribose. Methods are also provided for the enhancement of the immune response in isolated leukocytes. Leukocytes are cultured ex vivo in the presence of D-Ribose and transfused into a patient in need of leukocyte augmentation.
L'invention concerne le D-ribose et des procédés d'utilisation de ce dernier, dans le but d'améliorer la réponse immunitaire chez les mammifères. Les sujets souffrant d'une faible réponse immunitaire bénéficieront de l'administration orale ou parentérale du D-ribose. L'invention concerne également des procédés permettant d'améliorer la réponse immunitaire dans des leukocytes isolés. Les leukocytes sont cultivés ex vivo en présence du D-ribose et transfusés au patient nécessitant une augmentation des leukocytes.
