An engine oil checking apparatus for a vehicle capable of checking the aging degree of the engine oil while requiring any additional operation so that a driver can easily check the aging degree of the engine oil whenever desired, which includes a constant current generator for generating a predetermined level of current; a detector connected with the constant current generator for emitting light into engine oil and detecting the amount of the light passed through the engine oil; a current variation detector for detecting the variation of the detector; a signal processing unit for processing the signals corresponding to the varied amount of the current detected by the current variation detector; and a display unit for displaying the signals processed by the signal processing unit so that a driver can easily recognize the engine oil change time and thus advantageously decreasing the amount of waste engine oil.
