A device (1) for use in the surgical treatment of a patient suffering from funnel chest characterised in that it comprises a plate adapted to be fitted underneath the skin of the patient, and further characterised in that, in use, said plate can be attached to the patient's sternum and the curvature, length and width of the plate being such that the plate extends on both sides of the sternum and on the outside of the patient's thorax and is supported by the ribs to hold up the sternum.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif (1) destiné à être utilisé dans le traitement chirurgical d'un patient souffrant de pectus excavatum. Ledit dispositif est caractérisé en ce qu'il comprend une plaque conçue pour être installée sous la peau du patient. Ledit dispositif est en outre caractérisé en ce que, lors de son utilisation, ladite plaque peut être fixée au sternum du patient. Par ailleurs, la courbure, la longueur et la largeur de la plaque sont telles que ladite plaque s'étend sur les deux côtés du sternum et sur l'extérieur du thorax du patient, et qu'elle est soutenue par les côtes pour lever le sternum.
