This invention provides a method of using somatotropin to enhance the reproductive performance in cattle by commencing administration during the early postpartum period. Following one aspect of the invention, somatotropin (5 mg/day) is adminis- tered starting at five days postpartum, continuing until the animal becomes pregnant or until about 100 days postpartum.
