Glycosides having neotigogenin aglycone moieties, administered orally to mammals, are shown to inhibit the absorption of cholesterol. These compounds are useful in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. Particular compounds are derived from tomato seeds and include neotigogenin trisaccharide.

On a démontré que des glycosides comportant des fractions d'aglycone de néotigogénine inhibent l'absorption de cholestérol, lorsqu'ils sont administrés par voie orale à des mammifères. Ces composés sont utiles dans le traitement de l'hypercholestérolémie. Des composés particuliers sont obtenus à partir de graines de tomate et on trouve parmi ceux-ci le trisaccharide de néotigogénine.
