Polymers of a conjugated diene, an unsaturated nitrile and an .alpha., .beta.- unsaturated carboxylic acid are selectively hydrogenated to reduce carbon- carbon double bonds, without also reducing carboxyl groups and nitrile groups, using a rhodium-containing compound as catalyst. The hydrogenated polymers are novel and display excellent adhesive properties at both room temperature and high temperature, excellent hot tear strength, and excellent abrasion resistance.
L'invention concerne des polymères d'un diène conjugué, d'un nitrile non-saturé et d'un .alpha., .beta. acide carboxylique non-saturé qui sont sélectivement hydrogénés afin de réduire les liaisons doubles carbone-carbone, sans réduire du même coup les groupes carboxyles et nitriles, au moyen d'un composant contenant du rhodium, utilisé comme catalyseur. Les polymères hydrogénés sont nouveaux et font preuve d'excellentes propriétés adhésives, à température de laboratoire et à température élevée, d'une force de fissure à chaud et d'une résistance à l'abrasion également excellentes.
