An optical system for use in a viewing housing, such as a visor or a frame similar to eyeglass frames, which enables a viewer to directly view a virtual image of objects positioned at various acute angles below the viewer's direct line of sight. A primary use would be for viewing objects while the viewer is in a reclined position. The optical system compromises a series of reflectors capable of specular reflection. Light from objects to be viewed are reflected by two or more reflectors to the eyes of the viewer. One or more of the reflectors has a means for adjusting its position. This allows the viewer, in various states of recline, the ability to view objects that are in positions at various acute angles below the viewer's direct line of sight. Refraction capabilities of prisms may be utilized as reflectors, and as a means to increase the vertical field of vision to the viewer and/or reduce the size of the system.
