Vehicle mounted container handling devices include a rotating swivel mount (16), an articulated arm (18) connected to the swivel mount, a support member (80) rotationally connected to a free end of the articulated arm and a loading mechanism (20). The articulated arm, swivel mount, and loading mechanism are operable between stowed, extended, lift, and dump positions. The loading mechanism includes first and second opposed mechanized fingers (82, 84) pivotally connected to the support member and aligned in space relation to converge and diverge to grasp and release an object of interest. Each mechanized finger includes a belt (90, 92) that enhances the gripping ability of the loading mechanism. In operation, with the grasping device opened, the articulated arm is extended to reach out toward a container of interest. The swivel mount is operated to pivot the articulated arm as required for the loading mechanism to engage the container. The articulated arm is operated further to lift and dump the container in the vehicle above the swivel mount.

Dispositif pour manipuler des conteneurs monté sur un véhicule, composé d'un bâti pivotant (16), d'un bras articulé (18) relié au bâti pivotant, d'un élément de support (80) relié pivotant à l'extrémité libre du bras articulé et un mécanisme de chargement (20). Le bras articulé, le bâti pivotant et le mécanisme de chargement peuvent être actionnés entre des positions de rangement, extension, levage et déchargement. Le mécanisme de chargement comporte des première et seconde griffes mécanisées (82, 84) opposées, reliées pivotantes à l'élément de support, parallèles l'une à l'autre et espacées, de manière à pouvoir se rapprocher et s'écarter pour saisir et relâcher un objet donné. Chaque griffe mécanisée comporte une courroie (90, 92) qui accroît la capacité de préhension du mécanisme de chargement. En fonctionnement, le dispositif de préhension étant ouvert, le bras articulé s'étend en direction du conteneur choisi. Le bâti pivotant est actionné pour faire pivoter le bras articulé de façon adéquate pour mettre le mécanisme de chargement en contact avec le conteneur. Le bras articulé est ensuite actionné pour lever et lâcher le conteneur dans le véhicule au-dessus du bâti pivotant.
