Metallocenes, such as silicon bridged <u>ansa</u>-metallocenes, are purified by heating a slurry of the metallocene at elevated temperature in an aprotic, polar solvent so as to extract impurities from the metallocene into the solvent and then separating the impurity containing solvent from the metallocene.
