A knee brace is provided that is mountable over the knee joint of a user. The brace has a compliant sleeve and a compliant cover overlying an anterior portion of the sleeve. The sleeve and cover preferably have corresponding anterior openings aligned to receive the patella when the brace is mounted over the knee joint. The sleeve and cover are joined around the perimeter of the cover to form a pocket therebetween enclosing an inflatable pad having a medial chamber and a lateral chamber in fluid isolation from each other. The chambers are provided with associated pumps and valves, rendering them selectively inflatable or deflatable. In operation, the brace is positioned over the knee joint such that the pad circumscribes a portion of the patella and one or both of the chambers are inflated as desired to stabilize the patella.

Cette invention concerne un brassard pour genou pouvant se fixer autour de l'articulation du genou d'un utilisateur. Le brassard comporte un manchon compliant, ainsi qu'un élément de couverture également compliant qui recouvre la partie antérieure dudit manchon. Le manchon et l'élément de couverture se fixent l'un à l'autre sur le périmètre de l'élément de couverture de manière à former entre eux une poche, laquelle renferme un coussin gonflable comportant une chambre médiane et une chambre latérale en isolation fluide l'une de l'autre. Les chambres sont respectivement équipées de pompes et de valves permettant, au choix, de les gonfler ou de les dégonfler. Lors de son utilisation, le brassard est placé sur l'articulation du genou de sorte que le coussin entoure une partie de la rotule, et que l'une ou les deux chambres puissent être gonflées comme on le souhaite afin de stabiliser la rotule.
