The intramedullary nail has a longitudinal axis (5), a near end (1) with means (8) for coupling to an insertion device and a far end (2) with a tip (7) for insertion into the intramedullary canal of a long bone. The far end (2) is provided with at least two traversing through holes (3) with axes (6), all of said through holes (3) being grouped in said far end (2) within a distance x measured from said tip (7) to the axis (6) of the most distant hole (3). The nail is provided with at least a third through hole (3) with axis (6) in said far end (2) which contains the first and second holes (3) and the projection of the hole axis (6) of said through holes (3) in a plane orthogonal to said longitudinal axis (5) is such that at least two of said projected hole axis (6) are at an angle .alpha. greater than zero and less than 90~ with respect to each other.

L'invention concerne un clou centromédullaire présentant un axe longitudinal (5), une extrémité rapprochée (1) comportant des moyens (8) permettant l'assemblage avec un dispositif d'insertion, et une extrémité éloignée (2) comportant une pointe (7) permettant l'insertion dans le canal intramédullaire d'un os long. L'extrémité éloignée (2) présente au moins deux trous traversants (3) d'axes (6), tous ces trous traversants (3) étant groupés dans ladite extrémité éloignée (2) à une distance x mesurée à partir de ladite pointe (7) à l'axe (6) du trou le plus distant (3). Le clou comporte au moins un troisième trou traversant (3) d'axe (6) dans ladite extrémité éloignée (2) contenant le premier et le second trous (3), et la projection de l'axe (6) des trous traversants (3) dans un plan orthogonal audit axe longitudinal (5) est telle qu'au moins deux desdits axes (6) projetés forment un angle .alpha. supérieur à zéro et inférieur à 90· l'un par rapport à l'autre.
