The invention provides a novel coating composition which includes: (a) a polyester-based resin component, (b) an epoxy component, (c) a cross-linker component, (d) a catalyst component, and (e) a diluent component. The polyester-based resin component includes at least one phosphatized polyester resin; and the epoxy component includes at least one phosphatized epoxy resin. These coating compositions are particularly suitable as primers, and especially as primers for use used in conjunction with coating composition which include fluorocarbon polymers. Also provided is a method of providing a substrate with a multilayer coating system. This method includes: (a) applying at least one layer of the aforementioned novel primer onto a substrate; and (b) applying at least one layer of a second coating composition over the primed substrate of step (a). When this method employs the use of a second coating composition which includes fluorocarbon polymers, the result is multi- layered coated substrate which, while having excellent weatherability properties, also has excellent formability properties.
L'invention concerne une nouvelle composition de revêtement qui comprend: (a) un constituant résine à base de polyester, (b) un constituant époxy, (c) un constituant de réticulation, (d) un constituant catalyseur et (e) un constituant diluant. Le constituant résine à base de polyester comporte au moins une résine polyester phosphatée et le constituant époxy comprend au moins une résine époxy phosphatée. Ces compositions de revêtement sont notamment conçues en tant que couches de fond et spécialement en tant que couches de fonds utilisée conjointement avec une composition de revêtement comprenant des polymères de fluorocarbones. L'invention concerne également un procédé de formation d'un substrat à l'aide d'une technique de revêtement multicouche. Ce procédé consiste: (a) à appliquer sur un substrat au moins une couche de fond de la nouvelle composition ci-dessus mentionnée et (b) à appliquer sur ce substrat ainsi revêtu de la couche de fond lors de l'étape (a), au moins une couche d'une seconde composition de revêtement. Lorsque dans ce procédé on utilise une seconde composition de revêtement qui comprend des polymères de fluorocarbones, on obtient un substrat à revêtement multicouche qui, tout en présentant d'excellentes propriétés de résistance aux intempéries présente également d'excellente propriétés de déformation plastique.
