Method and apparatus for a responsible gaming system that employs cashless enabled games having media printers that issue media and/or generate cool down period information in human-readable and/or machine-readable form, media readers that verify and validate the cool down period and redeem media, a timing mechanism which creates, identifies, verifies, and validates a cool down period, and a scanning device that verifies and validates the cool down period. The responsible gaming system promotes responsible player gaming by providing cool down period information. The cool down period information prevents excessive gambling by establishing a cool down period where a player cannot play using amounts on media until the cool down period has passed.
