An apparatus (20) such as a television signal receiver, radio or other device provides an emergency alert function. According to an exemplary embodiment, the apparatus (20) includes a processor (27) operative to detect a first condition wherein signal strength on a selected channel frequency associated with the emergency alert function exceeds a predetermined threshold, and to detect a second condition wherein a broadcast test associated with said emergency alert function is passed. A visual indicator (30) is operative to provide a predetermined output if the first and second conditions are detected.
L'invention concerne un appareil (20) notamment un récepteur de signaux télévisés, une radio ou un autre dispositif comportant une fonction d'alerte. Selon un mode de réalisation exemplaire, l'appareil (20) comprend un processeur (27) utilisé en vue de détecter une première condition dans laquelle l'intensité du signal sur une fréquence de canal sélectionnée associée à la fonction d'alerte dépasse un seuil prédéfini, et une seconde condition dans laquelle un test de diffusion associé à cette fonction d'alerte est réalisé. Un indicateur visuel (30) est utilisé en vue de fournir une sortie prédéfinie si les premières et secondes conditions sont détectées.
