A wellbore anchor tool employing at least one pair of slip segments (32) which wrap at least partially around a mandrel (29) passing through the tool, the individual slip segments (34, 35) carrying bearing surfaces (34) and restraint members for holding the slip segments (32) in the tool but at the same time in slidable engagement with the tool.
