This invention relates to the improvement in the flow of ventilating air in the stator of a very large AC Variable Speed Salient Pole Motor which may be operated at very low speeds. The invention comprises the provision of ventilation ducts which are axially spaced at unequal distances and the widths of the spacer ducts may be varied inversely as the distance between the ventilation ducts. The width of the packets of stator laminations is greatest at the center of the machine.
