A support system for conventional masonry veneer on buildings, specifically where masonry veneer is used as part of a cavity wall. Masonry veneer generally consists of brick, cut stone or concrete block units. A cavity wall generally consists of an exterior masonry veneer, air space, insulation, air / vapour barrier and an interior backup wall of masonry or steel stud. The support system is thermally broken to minimize heat loss from the building through the support system. The support system can be used at ground level, at upper floors and over openings such as windows or doors.
