A non-aqueous composition is provided herein for use as a waterproof coating for a printable substrate. The composition comprises a mixture of polyurethane and an oleoresinous varnish, preferably in a weight ratio of 1:16 to 1:10. It has been found that such waterproof coating imparts colour enrichment to the printed substrate relative to a printed substrate having only a varnish coating. The waterproof coating further imparts at least 35% higher gloss to the substrate relative to a printed substrate having only a varnish coating.

La composition comporte un mélange de polyuréthane et de vernis oléorésineux, de préférence selon un rapport de poids compris entre 1:16 et 1:10. Il a été démontré que le substrat traité à l'enduit hydrofuge possède une plus grande richesse chromatique qu'un autre substrat enduit de vernis seulement. L'enduit hydrofuge confère au substrat un brillant 35 % plus prononcé que celui d'un substrat enduit de vernis seulement.
