Phenylimidazolidine derivatives of the general formula I (see formula I) in which, for example, Y denotes -CH2-CH2-CO-, r denotes 0 to 3, Z denotes oxygen, W denotes hydroxyl, R1 denotes -NH-C(=NH)-NH2, R, R2, R3 denote hydrogen, R4 denotes -CO-NHR5, where -NH-R5 represents an .alpha.-amino acid radical, have the ability to inhibit cell-cell adhesion. They are useful as inhibitors of platelet aggregation, thromboses, metastasis of carcinoma cells and osteoclast binding to the bone surfaces.
